ENGLISH 3 EXPECTATIONS AND SUPPLIES
TARDINESS IS DISRESPECTFUL-BE ON TIME FOR CLASS EVERY DAY!
CELL PHONES MUST BE PUT AWAY BEFORE ENTERING THE CLASS
First offense: phone sits on my desk until the end of class (valid only for the first 4 weeks). After that, the phone stays on my desk until the end of the day or is kept in the Dean’s office until the end of the day.
THINGS STUDENTS NEED EVERY DAY:
- CHARGED Chromebook- We use computers almost every day. It is your responsibility to be sure yours is WITH YOU AND CHARGED. (subject to change depending on Chromebook distribution)
- A dedicated English notebook and binder- Although we don’t take notes all the time, we need to be prepared to write down important information.
- Textbook-MyPerspectives grade level textbook
- Earbuds that plug into your computer. Used frequently!
- PEN OR PENCIL & COLORS we will be using art English
- HIGHLIGHTERS (more than 1 color is best)
- Tissues-I do not supply tissues
- A positive attitude!!
NO EATING/DRINKING IS ALLOWED IN MY CLASSROOM
Students have 5 minutes between classes to eat or drink
ASSIGNMENT TURN IN POLICY
*IF YOU ARE IN CLASS-ALL ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE TURNED IN BY THE DUE DATE. Extra time does NOT mean 2 days unless previously agreed, it means work on it at home and turn it in by the next class.
ABSENCE MAKE-UP POLICY
All assignments and instructions are located online. If my instructions are not clear TEXT ME ON REMIND.
Per the district policy- an unexcused absence will have 2 days to turn in work or make up a test without a late penalty. An Eab or MedEX will have more time depending on the length of absence (A day or two, not weeks).
1 day late -10%
2 days late-20%
3 days late-30%
4 days late-50%
5 or more days late NO CREDIT

English IV College Preparatory Course Syllabus
Teacher Ms. Jeannine Orndorff
This course covers, but is not limited to, British and American Literature. Students will read past and contemporary works including short stories, epics, plays, poetry, current events, and historical events. Students will implement and improve the following skills: note-taking, vocabulary, short essay writing, research, collaboration, and assessment preparation. Readings are subject to change.
