On Monday and Tuesday of this week, the Model UN team competed at the Southwest Florida Model United Nations Competition at FGCU. During this event, our students represented the nations of China and Canada and discussed issues such as International Wildlife Trade, Police Brutality, Global Taxation, and the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan.
The team as a whole placed 2nd in the school-wide recognition category, with individual recognitions of achievement being awarded to Kajsa Carlsen (2nd place Security Council), Gabriel DeGuzman (2nd Place Social and Economic Council), and Avery Gauthier (3rd Place Social and Economic Council). This is Avery's first individual recognition at a competition.
The students will be hosting their own small Conference, PirateMUN, for Middle and High School students on May 7th, 2022.
